Long time no post!!!

O dear!!!

It has been a dreadfully long time since I last posted :S Well I have been up to a lot so I suppose that can make up for it! :D

To start with I organize a Ball for August '09. Check this link to find out about it :) www.chivalryballperth.blogspot.com I will post some pics from the Ball when I get a chance!

I've also been extremely busy with my studies...which I am enjoying!..., work...I would love to stop working on Saturday's :( I don't know if any of you have job but believe me working on Saturday's becomed awfully annoying after nearly 3 years!, and lastly applying for university :) I have a interview next Friday so please pray that it goes well!

I have been doing plenty of other bits and pieces as well to keep me busy. Lately I have been practicing driving...which is fun!!!! I also made a t-shirt dress (which is modest!) these school holiday's. It is really easy to make! I am going to see if I can make a step-by-step guide soon so once that is done I will post some pictures up too.

I made this dress (I'm the one in the middle) for the ball I organized...it did get a bit tricky in places but it worked out in the end.

The following week I had a 21st to go to...it had a white theme :D So to make the dress less formal (because it was full length) I folded the skirt in half and made it a bubble skirt. It worked really well and was still modest :)

Ok, now you are going to think I have a party life...which is partly true lol but not really. This weekend I am going to a Homeschoolers Ball which a few of my friends organized, so yet again I find myself making a dress. I am currently searching the internet to find a pattern or tutorial on how to make nice & trendy fabric roses. In the process I have found this link which has a really good tutorial on how to make really pretty flower headbands:

This the headband as a belt:

I will pst some pics of my dress once it is done as well :D

At the moment I think that covers everything!!!! lol

Will post again soon :)

Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday is one of my favourite days during Holy Week. I'm not really sure why but I have loved it ever since I was little and look forward to this day each year.

Holy Thursday is the day of the instituion of the Holy Eucharist, The First Mass. After the Last Supper (as it is called) Jesus went with his disciples to Mount Olivet, where he prayed. On this same night Judas betrayed Jesus.

Here is some more information from EWTN:

Visiting

Hello :)
Over the past few weeks I have been visiting a nursing home which is run by Little Sisters of the Poor. I visit every Tuesday for about an hour, with a group of my friends. We normal split up with the boys, usually the girls run activities and the boys go and visit the men and talk to them. The past few times we have been making cards, which has been heaps of fun! :) The ladies are sooooo sweet!!! I really do love all of them!! :)

Today was sorta a sad day because we had a going away party for the Director of the nursing home. It was so nice seeing how much everyone missed her! Some of the elderly ladies sang going away songs for her...it nearly made me cry :(

I really do love visting the elderly! If any of you are considering going and visiting the elderly I would definitely recommend it! Though I have to say it is better going in a group ;)

Speak to you soon!

Solemnities

I never knew there were so many solemnities during lent!

St Patrick's Day - 17th March
St Jospeh's Feast Day - 19th March
Feast of the Annunciation - 26th March

I seem to celebrate solemities alot more during lent...maybe 'cause we can eat sweet things? (don't tell anyone I said that!) lol

No, but honestly I do =] Especially when lent is a sorrowful time of year, it makes you realize how joyful these days really are supposed to be!

As a family we all like to make and effort to go to mass on these days. On St Patrick's Day we also try and wear something green! :) It can be quite amusing getting dressed in the morning...I mean my sister wore a Christmas top just because it was green! (It did look rather funny :p). St Joseph is also my little cousin's patron saint, so when his feast comes around we make a cake and celebrate it!! We don't normally celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation as much as we should but yesterday we did make a cake and our uncle to us from the bible :)

Well, I hope you girls all enjoyed these special days during lent and really celebrated them!!!

Talk to you soon!

Hello

Hello Girls!

Wow, it has been a while since I last posted!!! -soz!

Well, to start with, we recently killed a snake...and I got stung by a bee... :(
Yesterday, which was Saturday, I went to work (I work at the local bakery) anyway, one of the girls had her last day that day...we were all pretty sad cause we had been working with her for nearly two years :(

...but we decided to give her a surprise flouring!!!! :D You can probablly guess what happened next... lol We were COMPLETELY covered in flour!!! Unfortunately, water was involved aswell, so it ended up being a sticky mess! It took us about an hour and a half to clean it all up - it was worth it though!!! :)

That's bascially it for now...will post again soon :)

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, which is a period of forty days in which we fast and prepare for the passion (Holy Thursday), death (Good Friday) and resurrection (Easter Sunday) of Christ. We are also asked to go to Mass and receive the blessing or mark of ashes. The priest rubs the ashes onto our forehead in the form of a cross, whilst receiving the ashes the priest says to us, "Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return" as a reminder for us that we are mortal, we were created from ash and will return to ash when we die. The ashes are from the previous year's Palm Sunday palms which are burnt and then blessed.

I find Ash Wednesday to be a day of sadness, but also of joy as it is a reminder for us of what is to come.

Here are some good articles on Ash Wednesday:

Cooking

I never used to cook & I never liked cooking...it was kinda, well, I don't really know...I just didn't like it! But over the past few weeks I have been cooking nearly every night & surprisingly I really enjoyed it!!! :)

One of the main things I love about cooking is choosing what to cook! There are soooooo many good & delicious recipes out there that it's nearly too hard to choose :)

I found the website - taste.com.au - to be really helpful (I'm not sure if there is an Amercian/UK version but I think you girls should be able to use the Aussie one).

Some of my fav recipes are:

All-in-one Quiche - really easy!!!
White Chocolate & Passionfruit Torte - sooooo good!
Quiche Lorraine - seriously worth making!
Chocolate Yogo - easy, easy, easy!!!
Canalloni - just remember to squeeze the spinach (something I learnt the hard way lol)

These are just a few, you should try them out :)
Well, betta go!

Please Pray!

Please pray for all the people in Victoria (Australia) who are suffering from the bush fires. It is officially Australia's worst natural disaster with a devastating death toll of close to 200 people, unfortunately this number is expected to rise. Please pray that they will have the courage and strength to go on. May Our Blessed Mother watch over, bless and protect them always!!

Summer, walking & praying :)

It has been pretty hot here lately, well that's kinda obvious being Summer in Australia! I haven't had a chance to go to the beach yet as we've been too busy :( Fingers crossed we can go soon!

Yesterday it was really hot...it didn't get cooler till around 8:30pm, so my family and I went for a walk around our block. We prayed the Rosary while we were walking, it was really beautiful. I find that when I am in the bush it seems easier to pray, for wherever you turn there is a tree or flower or native bird that reminds you of God. I also look at it this way: When you pray while you are walking you are getting spiritual and physical exercise!! :D I reckon that's pretty awesum! lol

Anyways, I have to get back to cleaning up the house and other fn stuff like that! :P

January - Month of the Holy Name of Jesus

January is dedicated to the most Holy Name of Jesus. It is a reminder for us of the sacredness of Jesus’ name and that by saying His name we may become closer to Him. We also remember during this month to make reperation to Jesus for all the sins commited by people who use His Name in vain.

Here is a invocation in honour of the Holy Name of Jesus

“Blessed be the most Holy Name of Jesus without end!”

Another beautiful prayer is the Litany of the Most Holy Name of Jesus:

Lord, have mercy on us.

Christ, have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us.

Jesus, hear us.

Jesus, graciously hear us.
God the Father of heaven, have mercy on us.

God the Son, redeemer of the world,

God the Holy Ghost,

Holy Trinity, one God,

Jesus, Son of the living God,

Jesus, brightness of eternal light,

Jesus, king of glory,

Jesus, son of justice,

Jesus, Son of the virgin Mary,

Jesus, most amiable,

Jesus, most admirable,

Jesus, the mighty God,

Jesus, father of the world to come,

Jesus, angel of great counsel,

Jesus, most powerful,

Jesus, most patient,

Jesus, most obedient,

Jesus, meek and humble of heart,

Jesus, lover of chastity,

Jesus, lover of us,Jesus,

God of peace,

Jesus, author of life,

Jesus, example of virtues,

Jesus, zealous lover of souls,

Jesus, our God,

Jesus, our refuge,

Jesus, father of the poor,

Jesus, treasure of the faithful,

Jesus, good Shepherd,

Jesus, true light,

Jesus, eternal wisdom,

Jesus, infinite goodness,

Jesus, our way and our life,

Jesus, joy of angels,

Jesus, king of Patriarchs,

Jesus, master of the Apostles,

Jesus, teacher of the Evangelists,

Jesus, strength of martyrs,

Jesus, light of Confessors,

Jesus, purity of virgins,

Jesus, crown of all saints, have mercy on us.
Be merciful, spare us, O Jesus.

Be merciful, graciously hear us, O Jesus.

From all evil, deliver us, O Jesus.

From all sin,

From Thy wrath,

From the snares of the devil,

From the spirit of fornication,

From everlasting death,

From the neglect of Thine inspirations,

By the mystery of Thy holy Incarnation,

By Thy nativity,

By Thine infancy,

By Thy most divine life,

By Thy labors,

By Thine agony and passion,

By Thy cross and dereliction,

By Thy sufferings,

By Thy death and burial,

By Thy resurrection,

By Thine ascension,

By Thine institution of the most Holy Eucharist,

By Thy joys,

By Thy glory, deliver us, O Jesus.

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, spare us, O Jesus.

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, hear us, O Jesus.

Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us, O Jesus.

Jesus, hear us.

Jesus, graciously hear us.
Let us pray.

O Lord Jesus Christ, who hast said: ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you; mercifully attend to our supplications, and grant us the gift of Thy divine charity, that we may ever love Thee with our whole heart and with all our words and deeds, and may never cease from praising Thee.
Make us, O Lord, to have a perpetual fear and love of Thy holy name, for Thou never failest to help and govern those whom Thou dost bring up in Thy steadfast fear and love; who livest and reignest for ever and ever. Amen.

Welcome!

This website is for all Catholic girls to have fun while learning more about their faith :)

Now you are probablly all wondering..."Who on earth is this person??" Well, I'll tell you a bit about myself : )

I am a practicing Catholic. I have just finished homeschooling and am working towards becoming a Teacher. I love babies and most animals :P My fav colour is red (I know that's pretty random but some peeps may like to know it lol) I have a pet dog and about 30 chickens.

Anyways, last year I went to World Youth Day! For those of you who went you know how awesome it was!!! But for those of you who didn't go or who don't know anything about it, I'll tell you about it.

World Youth Day was originally started by Pope John Paul II in 1986 (more info: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/) - he was one of the greatest popes of all time! Pope John Paul started it for all youth, but especially for young Catholics. It gives them the chance to spend a week together learning about their faith and giving witness. It is now held every three years at different locations throughout the world. Last year's was held in Sydney, Australia! The next one will be held in Madrid, Spain (2011), maybe I will see you there! :) If you are interested in learning more check out this website: http://www.wyd2008.org/

Ok, well that's it from me for today...

Thanks for visiting & I hope to see you again soon!
